History
Carballo was populated early in history. Remains from the Neolithic and Megalithic periods have been preserved till date. There is a dolmen and twenty Celtic settlements all over the municipality. The Roman presence can be felt too at the bridge in Lubiáns or the settlement of Torre Pardiñas. In any case, Carballo’s weight grew due to its sulphurous waters. They were already used in the 18th century and at present they can be enjoyed at the modern spa of Baños Vellos.
